Castle "Pfalzgrafenstein"
 
The toll castle "Pfalzgrafenstein" is vernacular simply called "Pfalz" and is situated in the middle of the Rhine river in front of Kaub on a rocky island. It was built by King Ludwig the Bavarian in the year 1327 and even reprimanded the pope. Around 1340 the defensive wall was built and extensions to the wall then came later in the year 1607.
The commanders apartment contains furniture of the 17th till 19th century and also household made of potter´s earth and tin.
Hours of opening: daily between 9.00 - 12.00 o´clock in the morning and between 2.00 p.m. - 5.00 p.m. . (closed on every 1st workday of the week and during the whole December).
